USC's Factory

Finally, some time to tell y'all what is happening @ DEDOS...August was a very busy month and September doesn't seem any different. In August we created our Web 2.0 and Mobile Applications Library, a document where you can find a lot of web and mobile tools used in learning environments to help improve the teaching-learning process. But it also contains social media tools like Twitter and Facebook, so we are looking for our faculty members to be as ubiquitous as possible. In other matters, instructional designers have improved course CED 401, adding new learning strategies and activities, incorporating new assets like the video interview did by Prof. Modesto Aguayo to Lawyer Carmen Cintrón about copyright law in learning environments. Obviously, DEDOS did the heavy lifting, especially Benigno Rosa who produced and edited this interview.

But the course has got better with time adding a Hangman-style game designed by Benny and me, incorporating glossaries, new learning activities, etc. Also, I have been working with Dr. Lilliam Vega creating a Prezi presentation for her workshop about handicapped students and the universal design. I’m even learning Flash authoring system in order to create an interactive WiZ iQ tutorial with help from Benny. Our classroom is almost ready for its re-opening, hopefully for next week’s workshops.

And last, but not less important I gave a digital storytelling workshop to members of the DEDOS component. That, along with other tutorials, will be the basis of our manual about Web 2.0 and Mobile Tools used in learning environments. Faculty will have many choices, but our goal is that professors @ least incorporate 2 tools to their online courses.

See ya' soon, we will look for some time to keep you informed...
