Frenzy, that's usually what happens in Holiday season…and the beginning of professional development season @ USC. Last week, between all those presentations and products made by DEDOS, we began what I call professional development season with our mini-workshop “Learning to use a Smartboard”. This workshop was designed in order to teach faculty, mentors, tutors and administrative staff the basic functionality of an electronic whiteboard. The result great, with some faculty members interested in working with the Smartboard right away and others interested in learning so they can keep up with the well-known digital natives.
After that, last Friday, Dr. Lilliam Vega Lassús gave her workshop “Faculty and Students with Disabilities: Support in the Universal Design”. Informing about the importance of the services USC offers to its students with disabilities, Dr. Vega Lassús gave a presentation in which she showed the vital role instructional technology plays not only with everyday students but with the ones that in some way have limitations during their learning process.
So has you can see, we have been busy…long hours spent designing these activities, practicing, setting things up @ the TV2 studio, preparing the presentations, inviting our guests, etc. And that without mentioning that we have been developing new tutorials, working with faculty in the redesign of their online courses, producing artworks to promote the next DEDOS’ activities, helping our Title V colleagues, giving advice about mobile technology to faculty members…
It’s exhausting all this amount of work, but it feels great when everyone wants you to be part of their activities or need you to teach something that makes a positive impact in the learning process of others.
