The first week of August we dedicated to work with the training session of Early IQ, the opening of “Mi camino en Sagrado (FYRe)” to the members of the faculty. The training was given by Molly Baldwin, Kathie Lynch-Holmes from Connect EDU (formerly known as Education Dynamics).
My role in this training was dual, serve as a link with the Information Systems Resource Center in case of any equipment failure and to attend to the training to have an update of the web application. In General the training was good, also I attend to a meeting with Severo Alicea, Mrs. Carmen Cintrón, Cesar Calderon, Dr. Pedro Fraile and Mr. Paul Hortiatis. Mr. Hortiatis is the Information Technology Support Person from Connect EDU. This meeting was to give all the details for the single sign-on among our portal and “Mi camino”. Also we include some remarks about the data structure of Early IQ that Benjamin and I was working. In summary the meeting was positive from both sides… Mrs. Cintrón contacts Mrs. Neusa Bach; she is the manager of the portal. Mrs. Bach made some call to the developers of the portal to ask for all the details to make possible the single sign-on feature.
Once the first training session for faculty was done from Connect EDU, our Summer Orientation began on August 8, 2011. Students enjoy all the activities prepared by Tittle V staff. We encounter some difficulties when we gather the students to give a hands-on demo for “Mi Camino”. Some of the users’ can´t log on just because the information was not set up correctly by the CRI. To solve some of the difficulties we ask Connect EDU to give us the access to the Report Center. With this tool we can create the accounts for students instead of uploading a batch of student info. All data transmission is made using a secure FTP server access provided by Connect EDU.
In the third week of August we face another challenge just because the data files extracted from Jenzebar POISE was incomplete and not fully structured as Benjamin and I provide the schemas. We decide to work the files and add manually the missing information coded in POISE and we have to identify for the Early IQ alert system.
