Project General Goals Related to SAS

  1.  Achieve a systematized, standards-based learning assessment system using technology to provide continuous feedback of the learning experience results throughout each semester, annually and for the five year cycles of program reviews. And align program offerings with student profiles, opportunities and needs. (AP Goal 4). 
  2.   Increase retention by improving the online student services infrastructure. Redesign the concept of student services to facilitate student integration to the USC‘s community. (IM Goal 1)
  3.   Optimize the use of facilities and learning resources. (IM Goal 2)

Project Goals to 2011 Related to SAS
  • By 6/2011 a plan will be ready stating the participants, protocols and assessment for the new Freshmore Experience.  
    • Administration of online version of Cirino’s vocational tests to 33 pilot participants on Summer Orientation 2011:
      • Instructions or protocol for  the administration of tests 




Related goal: AP Goal 1, IM Goal 1 

·         By 07/2011, 100% of existing online services will be in the USC web portal. 

From SAS First Year Plan

 Assignment: Student will have access to 100% existing web-based services in the Portal and the Institution capacity to help high-risk students with a two- pronged online strategy will have increased 

Assignment: Integrating at least three (3) student support services into single comprehensive online system from a 2010 baseline of 0.
Strategy and Coordination: Online tutoring HETS tests.  Online counseling, SER services.  Online wellness modules.  Crisis Hotline.
Status: On progress- Ask Dolphy, Salud-bienestar (up loaded on october- on progress staff, faculty and student access), Early Alert (under construction). Cirino's Vocational Tests- Purchase on line version on March 2011 (not available yet on USC Portal).
On March 2011 USC Information Resource Center CEO Carmen Cintrón,  Esq provided a list of Studennts Servives, that will be access by Student Portal and their integration status/schedule.

By 12/2011, Student service units will be integrated in renovated premises.
By 9/2011, Renovations for the one stop student services venue will have begun and 50% completed.

From SAS First Year Plan

Assignment: Analysis the use and design the space for the Centro de Servicios Estudiantiles y Retención (SER)- Barat Building
Strategy and Coordination: Plan with architect.  Architect submits plan, which is discussed with stakeholders.  Adm. Dean and staff begin project.


Presentation in End of 1st Year meeting- December 2011
Status: Renovation to physical facilities on progress. Presentation of  @SER model of service to staff on 10/6/11. Participation of Title V Staff on the design of the institutional: Protocolo para la prevención e intervención de situaciones de riesgo en el campus (by October 2011: on final review by USC's Deans, Leagal Advisor and other policy related staff). 
Research of student support services available on campus and best practices.
Web-based monitoring software will have been analyzed and 100% and will be operational and ready for pilot-testing. 15 faculty and 3 staff will be trained. (Indicator 4-Yr.1: By 07/2011)
  By 12/2011, the monitoring tool will be pilot-tested on the next semester Freshmore Experience seminars and on completed web-based courses.  From SAS First Year Plan Assignment: Establishing a monitoring system of student course of studies and academic and services needs from a 2010 baseline of 0. Strategy and Coordination: Evaluate vendors proposals, consult with stakeholders.  Make purchase order. Status: January to February 2011 – Request for information and proposal to vendors, evaluation and selection of monitoring system, Health and Wellness Modules, purpose network-bridge program,  February to March 2011- Negotiations, pre set up meetings and purchase (March 30),  April 2011- Set up meetings with USC,  Title V and Connect Edu Staff. April until  present- program, customization, launch and access and other design corrections to the three web based software. Bridge Program-Purpose Network Mi Camino en Sagrado- Launch on August 8.  Health and Wellness- Launch on October (7-14), working on student, faculty and staff access Early Alert- under construction (programing)Assignment: Select, train and evaluate professional staff and faculty in the  use of monitoring system- Strategy and Coordination: Identify trainers and trainees. Status: On campus training by Title V and Connect Edu Staff to USC student support services staff (9) and othre related to project (3), and Faculty (8= 5-Block and 3-FEP 101 courses), Title V Staff  (4): Total Attendees= 24. 
Assigment: Select sampling first year students (courses/faculty) to implement the monitoring system.
Strategy and Coordination: Select sample of 80 students among target population from fall 2011 cohort.
Status: Pilot in progress.
