“Actually, tomorrow is another day”

Yesterday I worked on an abstract for the survey about student needs, including the introduction; objectives and method. And also, I’ve been working with Gloria in the contents of a PowerPoint presentation directed to the faculty and the assessment in the classroom: tools, strategies, differences between assessment and evaluation and motivation. The idea is to refresh the knowledge about some concepts, share and create ideas, and have the same “language” when we talk about these issues.
I liked a lot the idea that The Middle States Commission on Higher Education, propose: “partners in teaching and learning”…and not only the “pursuit of knowledge, skills, but also…affective development”. So I am very motivated with this idea. I have the items to be included and I am developing the contents.
During this afternoon I attended at CEDTEC to the Webinar: “Building Engaging Student Experiences to Improve Enrollment”, which was presented as part of the EducationDynamics Executive Enrollment Management Series (EEMS). They say that: With all of the college/university options available to the prospective college student, it's become even more important to create a "personal connection" so that students can become intimately involved with your institution. Only through a well thought-out "engagement" strategy will schools be able to convey their value proposition in order to increase application base and/or matriculation yield.
The topics covered were:
-Purposeful social media networks that combine social and educational outcomes in a "closed" community, especially for admitted students.
-Quality engagement driven by student needs/wants and incorporating relevant, ongoing communications.
-Successful engagement tactics that grab attention and compel students to take the desired action.
So, these are the news for today…and as the actress Vivien Leigh said in her character as Scarlet O’Hara: “Actually, tomorrow is another day”.
