¡¡¡CRUSADAS!!

In the past November 17, I was at the crusadas ACTIVITY for the universities of Puerto Rico in the Embassy Suite hotel. This initiative is for prevention and alcohol abuse for students. The first part was a conversation with Dr. Julio Fonseca and Dr..., about "Universities and their response to behavioral health Puerto Rico today". Dr. Fonseca talks about our program of early alert system, our course FEP 101, like the way U.S.C is trying to deal with retention and prevention. In the activity they offered some educational sessions simultaneously about different prevention topic, like;

* Strategies to maintain some healthy relationships.
* Ethics for the Prevention.
* Myths and realities of alcohol and "HAPPY HOUR"
* Energy drinks and alcohol.
* Depressive disorders in youth: Origin and management.
* Violence as a global health challenge.
* IMPACT OF USE AND ABUSE ADDICTIVE SUBSTANCE MENTAL HEALTH OF YOUNG.
* Detention and early intervention in young people with mental health problems.
* Myths and realities of marijuana.
* Neuroscience: current paradigm to appreciate life.
* Identification and intervention of suicidal behavior.

You could choose two of this topic. It was very interesting how all universities in Puerto Rico choose to work in prevention. Our young's are the most important for our future. Is good having tools to deal with their issues in a way they are willing to appreciate and understand why is so important stay in the university and have a healthy student life. I think this kind of initiative could participate more students. This talks can be more like dramatization and the information can get there in a fun way. But that's my point of view. Anyway it was an amazing experience. Should be more of these initiatives in the year.
